Laboratory studies show peppermint, chestnut, and citrus oils can deter some spider species at high concentrations in confined spaces, but field efficacy in homes is poor and short-lived as oils evaporate.
Ultrasonic devices
Multiple peer-reviewed studies (Kansas State, others) show ultrasonic pest repellers have no measurable effect on spider populations or behavior.
