The actual range
Verified populations occur from eastern Nebraska and Iowa south to Texas and east to western Georgia and Tennessee. Isolated infestations occur in scattered structures outside the range but established outdoor populations do not.
A 2017 study by Vetter et al. documented thousands of presumed recluse bites in California, where the species does not occur. Verified Loxosceles specimens from those cases: zero.
